"WhanauConnect was created to enable access and develop digital skills for our local parent/caregiver communities. Our community is largely Pasifika and Maori. Most families do not have wifi access and/or digital means to develop a digital skill base. Inviting our communities into our school site was the only way our families could have access and build the digital skills needed. We had huge turn outs to our face to face gatherings and parents were encouraged to sign on using Google sites. What we found however, was we had a low adoption rate of users to this platform. Oli helped ideate, build, and develop a smarter choice of technology that was easier for our parents/caregivers to use and understand. Additionally, he leveraged automation with existing technology such as SMS; emails for better engagement; implemented a content management system for WhanauConnect workshops; and importantly, built a system that my team and I can use for the internal operations running each event. This has enabled a smarter and more efficient workflow for my team and parents to follow."
